“PAYING IT FORWARD”
 MARINE CORPS LEAGUE
MARINE CORPS LEAGUE AUXILIARY
LAKE HAVASU DETACHMENT #757

Our Marine Corps League Detachment #757 Lake Havasu City Arizona is an all volunteer organization.

We have a fairly consistent membership of about 160 veterans from all branches of our Armed Forces. We are fortunate to have from 35 – 40 members present at our general membership meetings.

Our Detachment Color Guard/Honor Guard has approximately 27 dedicated members. Our CG/HG is generally recognized as the best military ceremonial organization in the community and is in great demand.

Many of our activities focus on raising donations. Other activities are performed to build goodwill in our community.

During the past several months, we have used the funds we have raised to assist a trooper and his wife whose house was destroyed by fire, a relocation of a veteran and her son to Texas, paying back rent preventing evictions, paying for lodging and meals for a veteran and her family as they looked for new housing – they were evicted because the house they had rented for five years was sold, paid an excessive water bill due to broken water pipe, re-plumb the water lines in a veteran’s mobile home, paid car payments, paid for car repairs, cash donations to food banks and cloth-a-child programs, Toys For Tots, scholarships to veterans and their family members, etc.

What specific activities do we conduct?

Our members set-up and man our exhibit and man the following events to raise funds, gather donations, honor our fallen military sisters and brothers, etc. Donations are then used to help service members, veterans and their families in need of assistance:

  • 9/11 REDEDICATION CEREMONY…ANNUAL
  • AMERICAN LEGION  CAR SHOW…ANNUAL
  • BALLOON FESTIVAL…ANNUAL
  • CHRISTMAS TREE FUNDRAISER…ANNUAL
  • COLOR GUARD/HONOR GUARD CEREMONIES*…AS REQUESTED
  • CHARITY FUNDRAISING RAFFLES…OCCASIONAL

  • MEMORIAL DAY CEREMONY…ANNUAL
  • RELICS & RODS CAR SHOW…ANNUAL
  • TOYS FOR TOTS COLLECTION & DISTRIBUTION…ANNUAL
  • WINTERFEST EXHIBIT…ANNUAL
  • .AND MORE

Who participates in our activities?

All events are staffed by volunteers from our Detachment.

Where do we conduct our activities?

Primarily in our Lake Havasu City community. Occasionally, we go to nearby communities, Needles, Ca., Bullhead City, Kingman and Parker, Az to participate in swap meets, parades and to perform Military Honors Ceremonies for our fallen sisters and brothers.

When or how often do the activities occur?

As marked in (a) above, some are annual, some are weekly (*) others, especially Military Honors Ceremonies, marching in parades, etc. are on request.

What fees, if any, are charged?

We do not charge fees for any of our services. We do accept donations when offered.

What percentage of our time and resources do we spend on the activities?

Virtually all of our members are retired veterans, police officers and civilians. We all volunteer our time on these activities. Regarding resources, approximately 5% of the funds we raise are spent on our booths, posters, flyers, etc. We are an all volunteer organization and no salaries or compensation in any form is paid to any member.

How do our activities further our exempt status?

We work at all of these activities to raise funds with which we directly or indirectly help service members, veterans and the families in need of assistance.

Attached is a picture of our booth and copies of two posters. One poster is a partial list of people and organizations to whom we donate. The second poster is a list of many of the services to which we connect active service members, veterans and their family members.

With your support, we raise money to “PAY IT FORWARD”!

..and we thank you for your support.
